ANTHONY SHERET
We wanted to know what goes on in the mind of an 18 year old talented graphic designer. Work by Lunch is the place where you can scroll down the continuing experimentation of Anthony Sheret. The results of that experimentation seems pretty obvious.

NEOZINE* - Define what being a designer means to you and what path do you want to follow.

ANTHONY SHERET - Visual problem solver. I dont want to define the path, the path will
define where I go and where I end up.

NEOZINE* - I've seen great typography work on your folio. It's a compelling exercise in
Design Schools. Do you consider this kind of exercise as able of showing directions? What was the most interesting and challenging design exercise you have done?

ANTHONY SHERET - I believe that typography is the basis for great graphic design. It is
the most direct form of communication, and used properly can be extremely effecitve, unique and beautiful. The most interesting desgin excercise I have done was probably a record cover and record identity and direction for Aurora. The project took a whole year to complete, and we had hundreds of ideas for it, but ended up with a really simple idea which uses great materials, attention to detail and simplicity. Im really happy with the results.
The band is made up of close friends, who happen to be great musicians, they understand how I work and were always patient . A really great client. I learnt what a great client and designer relatiationship can feel like. The most challenging project is more difficult to pin point. Every project has its problems and unpredictable outcomes. These are normally the most challenging things to happen, sometimes the things which you cant control which will affect your work are difficult to adjust to, especially if you have a really nice idea, and the change renders this unusable.

NEOZINE* - What do you think about copying (in a positive way and as an exercise) other
designers work? Is it part of the learning processe or you figured out other processes as more interesting to evolve?

ANTHONY SHERET - For me, it has never been part of the design process. I learnt
everything through deconstructing type, playing and simple experimentation. Nothing beats the hands on approach to learning. I think everyone is inspired at points in their life, great work makes you want to do something as good or better. But, personally copying isnt the way foward for me. Ive always found my work progresses by playing with materials, thinking of new uses for things and the process of experimentation.

NEOZINE* - Where do you see yourself in two years from now?

ANTHONY SHERET - Who knows. I know I will be in college. Im currently working in Frankfurt, and return in September to start a course at London College of Communication, University of Art, London. I will be there in a year, hopefully going to learn alot and meet alot of great new people!I can't predict how my work will change, who I will meet or the type of projects I will become involved in. Half of the excitement is the unknown anyway. Ask me where I am in two years...
